The Art Institutes and Americans for the Arts Poster Design Scholarship Competition challenges high school seniors to create a poster design that best interprets the theme "Life is Better with Art in It."
The grand prize winner will earn a tuition scholarship to The Art Institutes school he/she chooses on the registration form. More than $100,000 in tuition scholarships to The Art Institutes schools will be awarded!
Who's eligible?
The competition is open to high school seniors in the U.S., Canada (with the exception of Quebec), and Puerto Rico who will graduate in 2011. You must be at least 17 to participate.
Your poster
Design: Create an original poster design with the theme “Life is Better with Art in It.” Include The Art Institutes and Americans for the Arts logos, downloaded here. You will have a selection of different logos. Choose one Americans for the Arts logo and one logo from The Art Institutes. The logos you select must appear in full.
Size: minimum 8.5" x 11" or 11" x 17" maximum.
Format: JPEG format (minimum resolution of 300 dpi). Files must not exceed 10MB.
What else: Include a statement describing your design concept and why you want to enter the design field. There is a 300 to 500 word limit.
Judging Criteria
•Must meet submission guidelines. Those submissions that do not will be disqualified and will not be included in judging.
•Originality of concept: poster cannot contain copyrighted, trademarked, or service marked materials of any sort (25%)
•Poster has visual impact (25%)
•Demonstrates basic design skills, including color and composition to effectively communicate the concept visually (25%)
•Design meets specified theme "Life is Better with Art in It" (25%)
All decisions made by The Art Institutes and judges in all levels of The Art Institutes and Americans for the Arts Poster Design Competition 2011 are final and may not be disputed.
